Dogs of Monument Valley

While traversing the 17 mile Valley Drive of Monument Valley, a group of dogs were resting in the sun and the scarce shade provided by the shrubbery and small rock ledges.

Hello….My husband & I were staying at the View hotel in Monument a year ago this month. A sweet female dog was begging food from us and then we heard puppies crying down a ledge. She had 10 puppies no more than 3 days old. My husband and I took one of them home (after talking to the Native Americans at the hotel). We named her “Mittens” since she was born overlooking them. She is a very special little girl and we love her very much. I called the hotel in December to enquire about the rest of the puppies and was so happy to hear that they were all adopted by hotel guests. That does not solve the Monument Valley dog issue but it helped. The weather there can be so cold or so hot. I hate to think of any of them suffering.
    Thanks for the pictures.

    • Thank you for your story. It’s good to know that many of them found loving homes.
